My new Etsy shop is open at last! Most of the items featured in this blog are now available in my shop, including the wonderful upcycled necklace.

Also for sale in the shop is this lovely tiara.
I have been meaning to get back into making tiaras for a long time now, and this is my first attempt. I love it! I want to do a proper steampunky one next, with little watch gears threaded into it. This one is ornamented with Swarovski crystals.

Upcycled Necklace: The Finished Piece!
I have finally finished this upcycled necklace! The finishing piece is a cabochon I made from a scrap of vintage material.
I think the cabochon looks lovely, and was just what was needed to finish this piece off.
A floral/mechanical style is definitely something that I am very interested in at the moment, and something which I think brings a new slant to the steampunk style.

Upcycled Necklace Update
Today I filled in the teardrops with resin and added a few more watch innards. I mostly used the tiny parts that I can't really use in any other type of project.
It was my first time using resin, apart from a little test I did, and it is looking good so far. It wont be fully dried until tomorrow, by which time the bits that I need to create my centrepiece will hopefully have arrived.

Butterfly Earrings
Staying with the theme of butterflies, I made these earrings today. They are along the same lines as the hair grip, but with less of the painstakingly applied gears.
I do feel some apprehension that I am just sticking gears on things and calling them steampunk, so I think I might try and steer away from that alley with future projects. I still love this pair though!

Butterfly Hair Grip
I finished this butterfly a while ago, but wasn't sure what to do with it once it was finished. Today I had a shipment of findings, and mounted the butterfly on a hair grip, and it looks wonderful!
I have plenty more of the hair grips, and some similar butterfly stampings too, so I plan to make some more of these, maybe with beading instead of gears.

Work in Progress: Upcycled Necklace
I bought this necklace super cheap because it was broken. I thought it would make a perfect steampunk upcycled piece!
This one is a work in progress, I am going to fill the teardrops in with resin and make a cabochon for the centre piece. That butterfly might need a little something extra too.

Cage Ring
So, it's been a while *cough*, but I'm finally finding time to be creative again.
My latest project is this cage ring, which I love because it is completely made by me, all from wire of various gauges and colours.
It's still a work in progress, as I think I want to do a little more work towards the bottom. The 3d structure is difficult to capture on camera, but it is really amazing.
